According to a recent estimate from the World Economic Forum, automation and AI could eliminate 85 million jobs globally by 2025, but they could also generate 97 million new employment in sectors like data analysis, AI development, and green energy. Although the creation of new employment is encouraging, the research also points out that these jobs may require different skills than the jobs they are replacing, necessitating the need for employees to undergo more training and up-skilling in order to stay up with the shifting needs of the labor market.

The impact of automation is not just limited to employees, but it can also have a wider economic impact as it can lead to a reduced demand for certain goods and services. Therefore, it is important to understand its potential impact, and essentially prepare individuals and organizations for the future of work. Here are a few steps that can be taken in order to adapt:

The more technology we utilize and automate tasks, the more we realize the importance of emotions, especially the ability to recognize these emotions. As technology is taking over it is becoming more essential to recognize one’s feelings and emotions in a workplace in order for both personal and professional growth. These days, most organizations screen their employees after taking an emotional intelligence test to determine their emotional capabilities.

With potential advantages and difficulties for the labor market, automation and AI are quickly transforming the nature of work. Although modern technologies have many benefits, such as higher production and efficiency, they also run the risk of replacing labor and necessitating the acquisition of new skills. People and organizations should make investments in education and training, value teamwork, put a priority on lifelong learning, and think about regulatory changes to lessen the negative effects of automation and AI in order to be ready for the future of work.

It’s essential to keep in mind that AI and automation aren’t always bad things for the labor market. If managed properly, they can result in a more productive and effective economy where people concentrate on jobs that call for creativity and problem-solving abilities.
